Service Overview

Azure Development Services for Microsoft-Stack Organisations

Netofficials builds, migrates and automates workloads on Microsoft Azure for organisations already running .NET, SQL Server, Microsoft 365 or Active Directory — the platforms that integrate most directly with Azure's native services, identity layer and developer tooling.

The work falls into three connected areas. First, application development: building new applications on Azure App Service, Azure Functions and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), backed by Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB or Azure Blob Storage. Second, workload migration: moving on-premise SQL Server databases, .NET applications and file infrastructure to Azure with minimal disruption to production systems. Third, DevOps automation: writing Azure DevOps Pipelines and infrastructure-as-code in Bicep or Terraform so every environment is reproducible and every deployment is auditable. You can read more about the migration path on the cloud migration services page and about pipeline automation on the DevOps and CI/CD page.

Azure is the natural fit when an organisation's identity runs through Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), its data sits in SQL Server, or its teams already use Microsoft 365 and Teams. The sections below cover the specific services Netofficials delivers, the engagement process, tooling, and the organisational profiles that benefit most.

What We Deliver

Azure Services Netofficials Builds and Manages

Compute and Application Hosting

Netofficials deploys and configures Azure App Service for .NET and web workloads, Azure Functions for event-driven and serverless processing, and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for containerised applications. Choose this when you need scalable hosting for new builds or applications migrated from on-premise Windows Server or IIS environments.

Data Platform and Storage

Covers Azure SQL for relational workloads migrated from on-premise SQL Server, Cosmos DB for globally distributed NoSQL data, and Blob Storage for unstructured files and media. Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics are added when the engagement includes data integration pipelines or analytical reporting against operational data.

Identity and Access Management

Netofficials configures Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID to replace or extend on-premise Active Directory. Work includes tenant setup, conditional access policies, single sign-on integration with Microsoft 365 and third-party SaaS applications, and role-based access control across Azure subscriptions and resource groups.

Security and Compliance Controls

Covers Azure Key Vault for secrets, certificates and encryption key management, Microsoft Defender for Cloud for threat detection and security posture scoring, and Azure Policy for enforcing governance rules across resources. Relevant when the organisation operates under data residency, audit or regulatory requirements.

DevOps Pipelines and Repositories

Netofficials builds CI/CD workflows using Azure DevOps Pipelines, Azure Repos and Azure Artifacts. Pipelines cover build, test, security scanning and deployment to App Service, AKS or Azure Functions. Artifact feeds manage NuGet, npm and container image versioning across environments from development through to production.

Infrastructure as Code Provisioning

All Azure environments are defined in Bicep or Terraform so infrastructure is version-controlled, repeatable and auditable. Bicep suits organisations standardising on native Azure tooling; Terraform suits teams managing resources across multiple cloud providers. Both approaches produce code the client owns and can modify after handover.

Our Process

How an Azure engagement runs from discovery to handover

Discovery and Architecture Review

Netofficials audits your existing stack — .NET applications, SQL Server instances, Active Directory configuration and Microsoft 365 integrations — alongside your compliance requirements and target state. Your IT lead and a Netofficials solutions architect align on scope. You receive a written architecture review and a prioritised list of migration or build decisions.

Infrastructure Design and Cost Modelling

The team produces Bicep or Terraform templates covering environment topology, network segmentation, Azure Policy assignments and Azure Key Vault configuration. A cost model outlines the factors that drive monthly spend — compute tier, storage volume, egress and redundancy level. Your architects review and approve the design before any resources are provisioned.

Development or Migration

For greenfield work, applications are built on Azure App Service, Azure Functions or Azure Kubernetes Service depending on the workload profile. For migrations, SQL Server databases are moved to Azure SQL with schema validation and data integrity checks at each stage. Your project owner receives progress updates against agreed milestones throughout this phase.

CI/CD Pipeline Setup

Netofficials configures Azure DevOps Pipelines or GitHub Actions with branch strategy, environment promotion gates and automated testing stages. Infrastructure changes go through the same pipeline as application code, so every deployment is repeatable and auditable. Your team receives documentation covering pipeline structure and how to extend it after handover.

Who This Service Is For

Built for organisations already running on the Microsoft stack

Enterprises hosting .NET applications on-premise or legacy infrastructure

Our .NET web applications and APIs run on ageing on-premise servers or shared hosting. We need a cloud environment that fits our existing codebase without a full rewrite.

Netofficials moves your .NET applications to Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service, preserving your existing code while giving you managed scaling, deployment pipelines and infrastructure as code.

IT leaders managing SQL Server databases considering a move to managed cloud databases

We run SQL Server on-premise and spend significant time on patching, backups and availability. We want a managed database option but need confidence that our data and queries will migrate cleanly.

Netofficials assesses your SQL Server workloads, plans the migration to Azure SQL or Azure SQL Managed Instance, and validates compatibility before any production data moves.

Organisations using Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Teams who want cloud workloads in the same identity boundary

We already use Microsoft 365 and Active Directory, but our internal applications and data workloads sit outside that identity boundary, creating separate login systems and access control gaps.

Netofficials integrates your Azure workloads with Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) so staff use the same credentials and conditional access policies they already have across Microsoft 365.

FAQ

Questions about Azure development services

Is Azure a better choice than AWS if we already use .NET and SQL Server?

Azure is the most natural fit for organisations already running .NET and SQL Server. Azure App Service has native runtime support for .NET, Visual Studio integrates directly with Azure deployment pipelines, and Azure SQL is a managed evolution of SQL Server with near-complete T-SQL compatibility. Azure Active Directory (Entra ID) also aligns directly with on-premise Active Directory, reducing the identity work required compared with other cloud providers. .NET application development on Azure avoids the translation layer that AWS or Google Cloud would introduce.

Can you migrate our on-premise SQL Server databases to Azure SQL?

Yes. Netofficials supports both lift-and-shift and modernisation paths for SQL Server to Azure SQL migration. A lift-and-shift moves your existing database to Azure SQL Managed Instance with minimal schema changes, preserving SQL Agent jobs and linked servers. A modernisation path targets Azure SQL Database and removes legacy dependencies to reduce long-term licensing and management overhead. Azure Database Migration Service is used to assess compatibility, handle schema conversion and minimise downtime during cutover. See our cloud migration services for more detail.

Do you use Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines?

Netofficials works with both Azure DevOps Pipelines and GitHub Actions. The right choice depends on your existing toolchain: organisations already using Azure Boards for work tracking and Azure Repos for source control benefit from keeping everything inside Azure DevOps. Teams that host code on GitHub and want a lighter configuration model typically prefer GitHub Actions. Both tools support the same deployment targets, including Azure App Service, AKS and Azure Functions. Learn more on our DevOps and CI/CD pipeline automation page.

How do you manage and optimise Azure costs once the environment is running?

Cost control starts at architecture design, not after the bill arrives. Netofficials applies a consistent resource tagging strategy so Azure Cost Management dashboards can attribute spend by workload, environment and team. Right-sizing reviews compare actual CPU and memory utilisation against provisioned SKUs and recommend downgrades or autoscale policies where appropriate. Reserved Instances are evaluated for stable, predictable workloads to reduce compute spend. For ongoing guidance, see our Azure cost and architecture consulting service.

What is Azure Active Directory and how does it replace our on-premise AD?

Azure Active Directory, now branded as Microsoft Entra ID, is the cloud identity and access management layer that controls authentication and authorisation for Azure resources, Microsoft 365 and third-party SaaS applications. It does not replace on-premise Active Directory Domain Services directly; instead, Azure AD Connect synchronises user accounts and groups from on-premise AD to Entra ID, giving users a single identity across both environments. Over time, organisations can reduce dependence on on-premise domain controllers as workloads move to Azure.

Who owns the Azure subscription, infrastructure code and repositories after the project?

You own everything. The Azure subscription runs under your organisation's tenant from day one, or Netofficials transfers it to you at handover if it was provisioned during the engagement. All infrastructure-as-code files, whether written in Terraform or Bicep, are committed to your repositories and documented so your internal team or any future partner can maintain them. No proprietary tooling or vendor lock-in to Netofficials is introduced. Ownership terms are confirmed in writing before work begins.
